On the art scene...

2011.04.05: Flyer added

Christmas Magpies were auctioned at a fundraiser for the Beatrice Nebraska Human Society. I created this flyer (as requested) for anyone interested in the painting and my art in general. It was definitely time to make one so the pressure helped.

2011.03.14: Utah Museum of Fine Arts

I finally added some pictures from my visit to the UMFA in Salt Lake City. There were some great masks and paintings on display. Even visited on a free night - go on a Wednesday!  Read more at the blog.

2011.03.09: Magpie Sketches

Magpie Sketches

I finally scanned the sketches for the 2010 Christmas Card, Christmas Magpies. They are in the Evolved Sketches. Another note on the Magpies...the painting was donated to the Human Society of Beatrice, Nebraska. It's to be auctioned at a fund raiser.

2011.02.26: Birdman Poetry

Sunny Dace

Birdman sent me some poems while I was visiting some Middle Eastern countries. Sadly it took me this long to get them posted.

He's gone through some significant life events and the poetry has offered a means to convey the feelings accompanying those events.

2011.02.26: Arches National Park

My stop at Arches National Park was almost a year ago, but I finally uploaded some pics to the blog. The images at this park met and exceeded all my expectations. Loved it. Visit the post.

2011.02.26: Christmas Magpies (update)

The Magpies have just been donated to the Beatrice Humane Society. They will on the auction block 18 March, during the Wizard of Paws. It will be interesting to see how much they bring in.

(Click artist name for info, click pictures for larger version)

Florentine Mannerist painter (originally Agnolo di Cosimo), the pupil and adopted son of Pontormo, who introduced his portrait as a child into his painting Joseph in Egypt (National Gallery, London).

The origin of his nickname is uncertain, but possibly derived from his having a dark complexion. Bronzino was deeply attached to Pontormo and his style was heavily indebted to his master. However, Bronzino lacked the emotional intensity that was such a characteristic of Pontormo's work and excelled as a portraitist rather than a religious painter.  Read more...
